Printing Instructions

Printing the Profiles

The Community profiles listed are available in PDF files for web viewing or downloading purposes. If you wish to print any or all of the profiles please read the following information or you may wish to consider ordering what you need.

Paper size- Ledger page 11" x 17" (279mm x 432mm) is highly recommended and is the default setting for these documents. Many larger copiers can take ledger size paper but most desk printers have a maximum paper size of 8.5 x 11.

Orientation- Be sure to adjust your print settings for 'Landscape' and adjust accordingly if using smaller paper size to avoid waste. It is highly recommended that you use the 'print preview' button to ensure that the document layout is correct for the print job.

Print properties- For best results colour printing is recommended for the Community profiles. The profiles can be viewed and printed in black and white.

Reaching Out is a service to support individuals facing barriers to participating in conventional parent education and support programs. Parent education and support is delivered informally and is designed to meet the needs of young parents, individuals with limited literacy, individuals living with limited resources and isolated parents and child care providers. Parenting and other relevant community information is shared and referrals are made to ongoing parent/child programs and support services in the community when appropriate.

Support and advocacy are provided regarding:

  • Child development and behavior guidance
  • Safety and nutrition
  • Finding local resources and community information
  • Life skills and crisis management
  • Working with the Children's Aid Society
  • Mental health supports
  • Other, based on individual needs.

Clients may be referred individually or as a group.

The outreach worker is available to offer services city wide.

For more information on Reaching Out contact the coordinator at 565-2467 ext 230 or email rbecvar@parentresource.on.ca

Tip of the Day
Instead of saying "Don't touch anything!" when taking young children on an outing, say "Look with your eyes" and teach them the One Finger Rule. By touching with one finger, they can satisfy some of their natural curiosity without being able to pick up anything.
